TrendSheet Lite Setup

Click here to be taken to the instructions for those of you NOT using a la mode's TOTAL.

Set up & use TrendSheet Lite in a la mode's TOTAL (also see video below going over everything but Step 1):

  1. Create the custom export in your MLS - Click here for those instructions.
  2. Download the file you received when purchasing. After that file (a zip file) is downloaded, open it up and there will be two files inside. IMPORTANT: Copy both of those files out of that folder and into some other folder on your computer. It doesn't matter where you put them as long as you copy them both out of that zip folder. Both files must end up in the same folder and you should not change their file names.
  3. In your TOTAL report, click on the 'Worksheet' tab at the top.
  4. Toward the top of the 'Worksheet' page are three small buttons that have an image of a green spreadsheet on them. Click the middle button which will say 'Open Existing Worksheet' when you hover over it. Then click the 'Yes' button to verify you want to do this.
  5. In the window that pops up, find the TrendSheet Lite file that you copied over to a folder on your computer. Left-click it and then click 'Open'.
  6. TrendSheet Lite is now in your report.  There is one last step to complete before you can use TrendSheet Lite. You need to customize TrendSheet Lite so it knows what your MLS calls the different types of listings (e.g. active, pending, closed, etc). You can tell what the different listing status' are by opening up a file you export from your MLS. Feel free to contact me if you need help with this part.
    1. When you open TrendSheet for the first time scroll to the right to the blue section that goes from Column AH to AO. Click here to see a sample image.
    2. In the first and last white columns (Columns AI and AO) type starting on Row 5 the exact name your MLS shows in an export file for anything you want counted as an Active listing (e.g. Active, Contingent, AO, Contingent-No Backup, etc). When this is complete, what you typed into Columns AI and AO should be identical.
    3. In Column AM, starting on Row 5, type in the name your MLS uses for any and all Closed Sales and Pending Sales. NOTE: If you want Pending sales counted as Active then do not type those in here but in Columns AI and AO. Click here to see a sample image.
    4. Save TrendSheet Lite by clicking on the small button toward the top that's called 'Save Exisiting Worksheet' and save it wherever you want to keep TrendSheet Lite (typically just save it in the same place it already existed). Now every time you open TrendSheet Lite, the information about your listings will already be there. Feel free to contact me for help on this.
  7. Using TrendSheet Lite: Type in the effective date (toward the top left - cell B6).
  8. Copy and paste your MLS data into cell A57 which is bordered in red and says 'Paste MLS Data Here' (these instructions are also on this page in TrendSheet). If you're not sure how to copy and paste your MLS data into TrendSheet, watch the video below or follow these instructions:
    1. Open the file you download from your MLS.
    2. Either use your mouse to highlight all of the data or simply type 'Ctrl'+ 'A' on your keyboard.
    3. Copy the data by either typing 'Ctrl' + 'C' or by right-clicking and choosing 'Copy'.
    4. Go into TrendSheet in your report. Scroll down to row 57 where there is a red cell that says 'Paste MLS Data Here'. Either left-click that cell and type 'Ctrl' + 'V' on your keyboard or right-click it and choose 'Paste'.
  9. To use the paired sales and sensitivity analysis portion of TrendSheet, click the bottom tab in TrendSheet Lite that says 'Sales Grid' and type a 'Y' in Column B next to each comp you want TrendSheet to analyze (these instructions are also right on that TrendSheet page).
